If you like history/old, you might like it. No air conditioning, no mini fridge, no elevator. The staff were very pleasant. Parking was in a free public lot around behind the building. My beau caught his arm on random nails sticking out of the wall.

Prepare yourself for an eclectic experience. This hotel is in a very old building with historical charm. Newly renovated and very very clean. Manager was professional and welcoming. Perfect location to shops, restaurants and breweries, all in walking distance. This place is great for a one night stay but definitely lacks creature comforts. Bathroom could use a hair dryer, more towels, and mounted soap dispensers. The room needs more bedside tables and cable tv (come prepared with your Netflix password) These recommendations are more to give a heads up to future guests. I had a great stay ! I just feel the average traveller would need to be aware of their booking in order to enjoy this spot.

I arrived early evening, and immediately felt safe with their locked entrance doors while having management right at the desk to greet me.. she was very welcoming and friendly with an offer to help with my bags. The Royal Hotel is like a trip back in time, admiring it's historic beauty while maybe fearing a ghostly encounter (lol).. and my room was very clean and comfortable. I had a great sleep and two cups of coffee (& 2 teabags) available!
I left a star off because:
I believe there should be 4 sugars & 4 creamers available to each beverage serving - 2 coffee & 2 tea (not 4 sugar & 4 cream total), PLUS sweetener pkgs for diabetics.. due to not having enough condiments at 8am and wandering the hotel in my pj's - with no one up or around to help (until I heard voices through my door after). Also some rooms had white while others had brown sugar! Does it really matter? Yes it absolutely does! If you're going to have both then offer both. Since you don't supply the luxuries of a pub/restaurant/cafe, pool/spa, blow dryers/iron, room phones/service, etc, ownership should absolutely without question splurge on the best quality coffee/tea condiment products 100%.. to help better a guests morning departure contributing to them possibly being a repeat customer right?!
Sadly this hotel is not senior or wheelchair friendly as there is no rooms on the main floor.
I did not use the thermostat, shower supplies, or tub, so I don't know if they were satisfactory/clean or even working.. this review is based only on my 1 night stay!

Just had a very pleasant stay here. Really loved the historic vibe to the place. The front desk was staffed by a super friendly and helpful female who told us her name was "Breeze". She even walked us to our room to ensure we didn't take a wrong turn, and let us know we could call her anytime if we needed something. She was also great with suggestions on places to eat and the best local place to get coffee. She was maybe the best part of our whole experience. My friend Rocky and I both agreed, we had the best sleep ever in our 2 super comfy Queen beds. The duvets are awesome. We ran into Breeze the following day making her rounds through the hallway. We mentioned having some issues with figuring out the TV channels. She came inside and walked us through what we were doing wrong. My only complaint was that I noticed that 2 different lightbulbs in our room were burnt out. She replaced them immediately. Someone should give this gal a raise!

I gave a second star because the front desk reception girl was very nice and polite. Everything else was way under par. The toilet was full of piss when we checked in, stains on the shower curtains and the bed, half the outlets don't work, no telecom system to reach front desk? No ironing board or iron? Stay somewhere else if possible.

I just stayed overnight at the Royal Hotel...my room and bathroom were super clean. The bed was comfy with a nice fluffy duvet and four super soft pillows.I had a nice little desk with a Kureg for two and Netlix! Very close to 1888 and the hotel itself is super charming..nice historic building. The front service person was very helpful and kind. All in all I want to go again!

Very nice double bed room for $160. Free parking out front between 7pm and 8am. Bed was super squeaky when we rolled over which did wake me up a couple times but good outside of that.

Had a lovely stay here, been around since 1908 so lots of history, old creaky floors, great location, and wonderful reception staff.
Will definitely stay here again!
