We had the best time at our surf lesson on Saturday for my birthday! All the equipment was ready in our sizes when we arrived and our instructor Ricardo was an absolute legend – super friendly and funny, clearly knew what he was talking about and explained clearly and gave us great demos, he made everyone feel confident and safe from the start. We are mostly beginners and he gave us individual coaching as he saw how we were all getting on, always close by when we needed help + at the end when we got tired. Such a fun morning with a small group (just four of us – lucky!). Would 100% come back – can’t recommend Ricardo + Swell Tofino team enough!

Such a great surf shop! All the rental equipment was ready for us when we got there and everyone in the shop was super friendly and calm. Once we suited up, we went down to North Chesterman Beach for a private surf lesson with Olivier (Ollie). Perfect beginner waves and lovely instructor! We had such a great time that we rented equipment again two days later (with a 10% discount because of the lesson) and headed back to North Chesterman on our own. Thank you, Swell!!!

I had an amazing private lesson. It was well structured and super fun. My instructor, Ollie, was so personable. He was very knowledgeable about the mechanics of surfing, and was able to provide helpful feedback that quickly had me standing up on the board and catching a few waves! Prior to this I had tried surfed once, with no instruction, which I got me no where with my skill. Now with some foundational knowledge in my pocket I feel much more confident and safe out in the surf.
Would 100% recommend lessons with Swell Tofino.

Such a cute little surf shop located on the side of Hotel Zed. My husband and I did the 1-day rental with 2 surfboards, wet suits, gloves and a roof rack and it was such a good experience. I do recommend getting the booties for your feet, as the water is quite chilly.

A gentleman named Charlie was assisting us and he was so helpful and friendly (bonus points for the UK accent too)! He made sure the wetsuits were the right size and showed us how to properly install the soft top roof rack on our car. We filled out a consent form and it was a super quick and easy rental process.

It was a bonus that the wetsuits didn’t smell! The boards were in good condition and perfect for beginner surfers. Overall it was a great experience! I’d highly recommend renting with Swell!

We had a wonderful afternoon surfing. Everyone on the Swell team was fantastic from Aaron & Charlie who helped us get set up and fitted … to Avery, who was our surf instructor at the beach! They all had great enthusiasm and ensured we had a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Swell.

Just what we needed. Loved the sunset rental deal as it meant we could surf over 2 days for an affordable price. The guy who served us was really knowledgeable and friendly. Wetsuits fitted well and gear was in pretty good condition.

My friends and I had such a great experience at Swell Tofino for our first surfing lesson! Since we had car issues when traveling from Calgary, we ended up having to change our booking to a later date. They easily made this accommodation for us, we greatly appreciated.

I believe our instructors names were Ali and Becca. They were such great instructors, incredibly supportive and encouraging. Whenever we caught a wave or if we were struggling, they gave us that push or helped us with timing to ensure we got the experience we wanted.

I would highly recommend them, through and through! They were such kind people and so personable. Made efforts to get to know us and our stories about our vacation in Tofino too!

Took a half day lesson, instructor Ricardo is a talented coach, very focused on students. Gear was in good shape and there was enough of everything in correct sizes for our group.
