My wife and I took our son to the Beefeater in Medicine Hat for his 21st birthday, as he was in town. It’s a family run establishment that has been around for almost fifty years. The owners have recently sold the restaurant and it will soon be under new management.

The Beefeater is decorated inside like an old school, British restaurant. I loved seeing the flaming grill in the glassed off section of the restaurant where the steaks are cooked. The two flaming torches outside is another nice touch, that makes it special and gives it style.

On to our meal: our dinner was excellent; I am not a big eater of red meat, but I really enjoyed my beef Neptune, with asparagus and crab on top of my steak. I had the rice pilaf and Caesar salad as well. My wife had the medallions of tenderloin and the French onion soup and our son enjoyed the New York strip with mushroom sauce. The service was excellent as well; our server was friendly, personable and a pro.

We had the garlic shrimp and my wife enjoyed her escargot. The appetizers need a bit of updating, and the Caesar salad as well, but everything else was really lovely. My wife suggested more vegetables as well. All in all, a fantastic steak restaurant in Medicine Hat, for a special occasion or just a great steak.

The beef dip is perfect, bun to meat ratio 👌🏻
I love the potato dress up caddy that the server brought over to our table. She loaded up my potato with sour cream, bacon bits, butter, and green onions. Heck yes.

I love the vibe inside. It’s like a cabin and an old ship had a baby. It’s cozy with comfy chairs (lounge).

In addition, our server was attentive, friendly, and genuine. Thank you for the great experience.

Always treated very well. Food is served as ordered, and the dining room is always very clean, and white linen on tables just adds a finishing touch to the overall atmosphere.

Stop into The Beefeater for the first time and I've heard good things about the restaurant so thought I'd better try it out.
Well my first impression of the restaurant wasn't the greatest. The atmosphere is nice but a little on the dark side. The servers were nice and helpful especially when it came to the issue with my meal.
My wife and I came for some nice steak dinners and well everything was good but the steaks weren't cooked correctly. My wife's was over cooked and the best part of mine was over cooked. Photos of the steaks will be posted along with the trimming... Was so hungry I didn't get to take a photo of the salad.
I would to mention the management looked after this problem properly no question ask.
I will be back to give the restaurant one more try as I believe in second chances.

Mediocre at best. Chef didn’t know what medium rare was. Prices are way too high. The only good thing i have to say is, it’s a nice restaurant visually and the staff were very kind. Just wish they good at making food considering that is the basis of the places existence.

The owner will reply to these reviews trying to defend the restaurant but I have been to many steakhouses in this country and down south. Most know what medium rare is….. because he feels it necessary to defend his mistakes instead of rectify them they get 1 star. I wanted to give 2 but they aren’t worth it.

First time here and it lived up to the recommendations I received. My server Melynda was very nice and checked back regularly. Being carb free, I was a little disappointed that they would not substitute the potato choices for another vegetable without an upcharge and only offered sliced tomatoes so I paid for the mushrooms which were delicious. Another slight disappointment was they did not have any blue cheese dressing for the salad which I think goes hand in hand with a steakhouse. I went with the Greek feta option which tasted a bit out of the bottle. I ordered the 12 oz Prime Rib and it did not disappoint at all. The au jus was a bit thick and I asked to make sure it wasn't the gravy. The horse radish was very good....very fresh and hot. Some very small disappointments compared to an amazing dining experience and a great Prime Rib. I'll be back...next time I'm in MedHat!
