The Brixton - Glace Bay, Nova Scotia

My sister and I went out for dinner to a place I have been wanting to visit on many trips home but haven’t yet. It is the Brixton and it sits in the heart of Glace Bay. It is fine dining at its best with a down home feel. They have a Cordon Blue Chef and it’s pretty obvious from the bread plate to the finish. The dishes were amazing. The cocktails were so nice to look at and even better to taste. They served a bread with a lime infused butter with some heat and it was sooo delicious. The hot honey naan bread with the Taziki was incredibly garlicky and flavourful. The scallops were seared perfectly and every bit of sauce on the plate complemented them well. The burger that my sister had she said was charred yet tender and juicy with every bite, and it was the quality of the beef that stood out more than anything. I had seared salmon. It melted in my mouth. Perfectly cooked, and everything was seasoned as it should be. Food is locally sourced. There were many people in there tonight all with reservations. Nice to see this place thrive! The wines paired very well with the meal and it’s definitely a five star experience and well worth the money. The service was top notch. Loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!
And to top it all off, we walked there and back 2.7 km each way… calories be gone!!! ?

Tonight we dined at The Brixton for my birthday. There was lots of free parking on the street and we got a nice table close to the window. Service was excellent, food was delicious and beautifully plated, and the atmosphere was inviting and warm. The bathroom was clean and spacious. There is a gorgeous outdoor space as well. Prices were reasonable and it was a very enjoyable dining experience. Will go again!

The Brixton team recently catered a surprise retirement party for my parents and it was nothing short of amazing. Tam, Julia and their team were a dream to work with.
The food was incredible, the service outstanding and the whole experience was 5 stars.

If you are having a private event and are looking to have it handled professionally, look no further. I have high standards- and they exceeded them.

The Brixton is leading Glace Bay's Renaissance, offering the finest dining, outshining Sydney's fare in both food quality and exemplary service.
I challenged the staff by completely underdressing for the occasion and the staff made not one snitty face or comment. Katie was especially gracious while serving my elderly Dad and my dear friend with special needs.
Our meals were spectacular. The menu changes with the seasons. See the photos, to see the quality, then book yourself a seating.

I went here a couple of weeks ago and can say that hands down this was THE best spinach and artichoke dip I have ever had. And, from someone who has tasted great Cacio e Pepe in Rome, they did a damn good job on theirs! Loved the added touch of tiny bits of red onion in it.

Highly recommend this spot if visiting Cape Breton. The warm atmosphere, live outdoor music (summer), and amazing food are well worth a stop for any traveller. Have been craving the food and cocktails since. May need to plan another trip just to eat here! So yummy.

Possibly the worst dining experience we have ever had. We were very interested in trying a locally owned spot but will actively discourage anyone we know from eating there. Can’t say anything good. So many aspects of the evening were terrible hard to know where to start . At one point we as customers were blamed for the problems which were numerous because we ordered appetizers. The waitress complained about us as customers to another table while my husband was trying to pay for our not existent meal. We do not feel it is unreasonable to book reservations 2 hrs before we needed to leave the restaurant and expect food before we had to leave. There are many details I could elaborate on but it appears customer service is not a priority . Could not post review without picking what we tried to order. Also called manager/owner next day and he said he would look into it and get back to me — it has been a week without any contact from owner/ chef

Really good food! The pork belly package and perogies were absolutely delicious the meat was very soft and perogies full of flavour. We had the duck confit with rissotto. Was very flavourful perfect meal for a cold day. Service was great! Will definitely visit again.
