Both my bf and I had the best time here for a Canada Day lunch today! What a secret gem 🙂 we had the animal burger and the gull burger plus fish and chips and poutine! Best burger I’ve ever had, and the fish and chips was so perfectly battered, light and very crispy, with fresh fish. I feel bad I didn’t get the servers name, but he took care of us very well! Thank you, and see you soon!

Had a really nice time at the gull. We had a short wait to get a table, but it sounded like a reservation was incoming. The pork belly mugs were amazing and the burgers and sandwiches were well made. The theme of the restaurant is clearly inspired by local history and environment. It will be a place I will be back to.

This is our second time visiting this restaurant. I really enjoyed their bread on our last visit, so we decided to come back while we were in North Van — and once again, the experience was fantastic.

We ordered the jerk chicken, butter bread, and baked Brussels sprouts. The bread was as amazing as I remembered, but the real standout this time was the new jerk chicken. It was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tender — it practically melted in my mouth. Just the right amount of spice and that signature jerk flavor.

Definitely my go-to spot whenever I’m in North Vancouver!

The Gull, nestled just above the Shipyards district in North Shore, boasts a charming nautical-inspired decor. The restaurant is narrow and elongated, with a decent-sized patio in the back, making it a great spot for both indoor and outdoor dining. The space has a laid-back, neighborhood vibe, complemented by a striking chalk mural on the wall that adds a unique touch to the ambiance.

Their cocktail menu is extensive and offers creative takes on classic drinks. I tried the Green Card and the Smooth Operator, both of which were fun and flavorful. Of the two, I preferred the Smooth Operator, which features Spiced Absolut Vodka, Baileys, Licor 43, lemon, and orange – a smooth, slightly sweet mix that hit the right notes.

For our meal, we began with the beef carpaccio and pork belly nugz, both of which were tasty, but the bites could have used more heat. I opted for the pasta special with cod and shrimp, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The pasta felt under seasoned and lacked the depth of flavour I was hoping for. My son, however, ordered the Animal Style burger, which we both ended up liking. After trying a bite, I have to say the burger was far more satisfying than my pasta. It’s clear that The Gull excels in crafting incredible burgers, and perhaps pasta isn’t their strong suit. Then again, I don’t think the restaurant is a pasta joint.

The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable and skilled, delivering well-crafted cocktails. If you're looking for a lively spot with great drinks, food, and a fun vibe, The Gull definitely delivers.

Great place to hang out. The Bomba shrimp tasted great with the bread. Both the Gull & Animal burger were great. The pork ribs was a bit salty and dry. The Greek yogurt with the ribs made it dryer, probably best to combine this with something lighter or saucy. Overall great place ro relax near the Quay.

Food is tasty but I am still outraged by the size to cost ratio of the fish

My partner ordered a 1 piece fish and chips, the piece of fish that came out was almost the same size as the piece of lemon served with it.

For ~$20 this is unacceptable.
