Best B & B Experience ever!
I want to thank Dan and his wife for the most wonderful customer service I've ever received, (and I've stayed in places all over the world). We had the best stay on Bowen Island. You can tell that they love what they do and put pride into it! The lodge was beautiful, historic, and very clean. Breakfast was amazing-we went back for seconds! Dan was so personable and lovely, and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. I loved this place and will definitely be staying here again!

What an amazing place to stay. Dan was by far the most welcoming host I spoke to when calling around the island for a place to stay. The property was perfectly kept with climbing plants and beautiful flowers surrounding the entrance. My room was small, and the bathrooms were shared, but neither became an issue for my boyfriend and I. Breakfast was out of this world!!! Dan is an amazing chef. We loved our stay there and are already looking into booking again! Highly recommend staying here.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of spending a week at this lodge and we absolutely loved it. It is a beautiful spot with a wonderful garden patio to spend time in or to just lounge in one of the many living rooms throughout the lodge. Our en suite bathroom came with an incredible soaker tub. The hospitality from the owner Dan was the best we have had at any place we've stayed. Plus, the gourmet breakfasts every morning made it easy to get up for breakfast. We enjoyed spending time talking with him every day and we got great local info on places to eat in the evenings. I have already recommended this place to other friends that are traveling in that area as the place to stay.

My first time on Bowen Island, & my very first experience at a B&B. I cannot say enough about the owner Dan, whose welcoming & helpful manner made my experience absolutely incredible. He went over & above in making all his guests feel at home throughout their stay. The Lodge itself was not only clean, bright, & peaceful, but it's inherent charm was almost palpable! From it's decor, both inside & out, to the FABULOUS HOMEMADE breakfasts skillfully prepared by Dan, I felt as though I'd been transported back to another time & place where life was so much simpler, more peaceful. I look forward to returning to The Lodge in future & would highly recommend it to friends & family. The only downside is that clearly other people feel the same way as I, & reservations need to be booked early. Obviously this is a very popular place!

Dan is always the best of hosts. His gentle style and the excellent food make this our favourite "away" but still close to home escape from the city. This visit we learned more culinary tips and tricks. ||I have also stayed here on corporate retreats twice and Dan provides a full set of meals for those retreats. The great room is a good comfortable setting for those reteats. Bowen Island itself also provides a relaxing backdrop.

The Lodge at the Old Dorm was an amazing place to stay. We traveled with my Daughter and Son-in-Law from Vancouver, who had been to this lovely B&B two other times, and highly recommended it. They keep thinking they’d like to try another location, but love it so much, they keep going back. Dan gave us the upstairs wing with two bedrooms and a bathroom with a tub. There was a small kitchen with coffee, tea, dishes, sink etc, as well as a nice sitting area upstairs. We didn’t look at the other bedrooms upstairs.||Downstairs was a beautiful living room, a dining area, an outdoor patio, and Dan’s piece-de-resistance, his kitchen. He is such a friendly, informative, and personable man, but beyond all of that, he knows how to prepare an elegant breakfast. There was fruit, yogurt and granola, an exotic baked egg dish, cheese, asparagus, croissants and a variety of jams.||We visited with the other guests, and Dan gave us lots of local advice on what to see and do, where to go for dinner, and some of the history and current events of the island.||There is free wi-fi in the main area, but I couldn't connect in the bedroom. NOT a problem :)||I highly recommend this beautiful home.

This review is long overdue. I just returned from four nights at the Old Dorm as part of my birthday celebration. I first came to the Old Dorm as part of a writing group for a weekend over 10 years' ago and fell in love with the place. We took over the place and had all of our meals provided. Owner Dan Parkin is the most charming of hosts and his breakfasts are legend!. The rest of his culinary repertoire doesn't disappoint if you are lucky to be part of a group booking.||There are several accommodations to choose from, including ensuite and shared baths. The public areas are relaxing and there's a full kitchen for guests' use.||The writing group returned on occasion but the place quickly became my personal getaway retreat from Vancouver. A mere 20 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay takes you worlds' away from the big city bustle. I generally travel solo as a foot passenger. The Old Dorm is a short walk from the ferry, shops and restaurants in Snug Cove. Also close by is Crippen Regional Park for lovely walks through the woods to Killarney Lake and beyond to Mt. Gardner.||The place is great for a one day getaway as well, especially in summer when you can swim the secluded beaches and kayak to your heart's content.||I highly recommend Bowen Island and in particular the Lodge at the Old Dorm - there are many other places to stay on the island but this place has my heart.

This is a hidden jewel my girlfriend and I have have stayed at the Lodge at The Old Dorm three times now - once alone, once with his parents and once with my parents. We love it! It's a cozy place and the rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The host is very friendly - always giving great tips for hikes, places to eat and things to do. The breakfast is always delicious with many special treats and surprises. Girlfriend says it is charming inside out so there you go. Now you know where to take your girl next holiday.
